Sjællandske Medier, Ringsted (Denmark)

Exploiting the openness of the Ferag system and gaining from the guaranteed long-term preservation of its investment value: Sjællandske Medier’s Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief Torben Dalby Larsen (left) and Production Manager Preben Jørgensen.

Hinwil, 23 May 2011 – Today, Sjællandske Medier’s investment in Ferag technology back in the 1980s looks like a farsighted decision. If the company was going to keep pace with the growing demands on performance and product diversity, modernization of the more than twenty-year-old inserting system in Ringsted was becoming a pressing issue. The management team did not intend to replace the entire line with an all-new installation; rather, they were after a solution that would incorporate the TTR conveyor system and the ETR-C inserting drum. Thanks to the Ferag system’s open concept, connection of the line components to state-of-the-art technology was an easy matter.

The update of the Ferag mailroom line includes a RollStream precollecting line with three JetFeeder hoppers as well as two Multistack units for programmed bundling with inline topsheet printing. Except for a few alterations to the line route, the conveyor system layout between the printing machine and delivery of the newspaper copies to the two MultiStack stackers remained the same.

The new production lines mean a huge productivity gain for Sjællandske Medier. There’s been a clear boost to the speed of the inserting process, and thanks to RollStream with its superb technology and ergonomics, the customer has been able to improve overall stability.
